Rustic Campers is a family run company specialising in hand crafted wooden interior spaces in their own unique style. They create bespoke small spaces with an emphasis on style and design, from camper vans to shepherds huts, rolling cabins to garden hideaways and rustic retreats of all shapes and sizes.

Slide back the door, or roll back the shutter, to expose the timber-clad wooden interior. As you enter you are transported to another world. Hidden amongst this rustic interior may be the comforts of the 21st century, a roll top bath and fully equipped kitchens with a fusion of a traditional and contemporary aesthetic. The remote nature of the some of their creations means the spaces can be mostly off grid, with solar powered electric systems, including USB sockets for laptop and phone.

These beautiful creations are made by Bill and Becks Goddard with their 18 month old son, who is already savvy with a hammer. Their workshop 'The Depot' is based in the Welsh border town of Presteigne. They provide a unique service: ‘We work closely with the client, allowing us to create a space that is specifcally designed to their needs’, says Bill. ‘You can choose anything from a small cabin for modest needs to a full tiny home complete with all the mod-cons.’

Bill trained and worked as a tree surgeon for fve years and through a natural progression of interests found his way into joinery through woodland work, green woodworking and eventually into the workshop. He has an eye for design and appreciates natural forms. By allowing the wood to retain its natural beauty and shape he gives the interiors a unique rustic feel. Where possible local, sustainably sourced wood is used, mainly indigenous British hardwoods.

‘We are always keen to push our style forwards and keep experimenting with the spaces we work on, we try and use materials from a variety of sources'

Textile and interior designer Becks also works alongside Bill in the workshop specialising in the soft furnishings and upholstery. She uses her natural fare with style and design to create something truly original with these small spaces. A large part of their fnished style is the second hand reclaimed additions, local sheepskins, woven rugs and enamelware.

‘We are passionate about what we do’ she says ‘I love designing and dressing the interiors, and we get such satisfaction out of these well designed small spaces.’
